History

The Saskatchewan Foodservice Supervisor’s Association was formed in November of 1972 at a meeting held in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Hospital Association in Regina. The primary objective of the new association was to aid in the professional development of its members.

The Association became incorporated in 1973 and in September of 1996, changed its name to the Saskatchewan Society of Nutrition Management to better reflect the changing roles of the foodservice supervisor as well as to align the name with the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management.

Since our beginning, we have won the “Chapter of the Year Award” five times, given by the CSNM. We are building strong relationships with our educational partners, including SIAST, and continue to promote food service awareness through our workshops and Spring Conference.

In 2012 we celebrated our 40th Anniversary at TusQ Staquatto Lounge followed by our Education Day at SIAST Kelsey Campus.  Past Presidents, France Gates, Jean Van Nus and Lynne Fitzsimmons shared memories with those in attendance of the early days of the Saskatchewan Foodservice Supervisor’s Association and guests in attendance received a commemorative glass wheat sheaf.

On May 11, 2017 we celebrated our 45th Anniversary at Saskatoon Travelodge Hotel.  Guest speakers included: Cyndie Wowchuk, France Gates, Jean Van Nus and Lynne Fitzsimmons.  We enjoyed a chocolate fondue, a trip down memory lane with photos and memorabilia from years past.

Jean Van Nus was nominated for a Life Time Membership at the 45th Anniversary Celebration.

On June 23rd 2022, at the CSNM Conference in Saskatoon, we celebrated our 50th Anniversary of SSNM. Prairie Gold was our Gala theme held at the beautiful Remai Modern. This was an unforgettable evening of live music, awards, friendship, great food and service!
